Eldritch Embraces Updates

The editors at Dragon's Roost Press would like to note a few things regarding our upcoming release, Eldritch Embraces: Putting the Love Back in Lovecraft.

If you have been following this blog, or the
Facebook page, you know that we have already accepted fourteen stories for the new anthology. This means we are somewhere between 1/2 and 2/3 full. While we were planning on keeping submissions open until October, we may be closing early. If you have an idea you have been waiting to write, or a story you are sitting on, don't wait much longer! You don't want to miss out on your chance to be included in this exciting new anthology.

A few words on formatting your submissions:

Please read the guidelines carefully. Your submission should look exactly like
this. We have been receiving stories with odd spacing, paragraphs that are not indented, extra spaces between paragraphs, and which are missing contact data. We want the submissions to look exactly the same. It helps us figure out how long each story will be when it is printed in the book. It also makes the final formatting of the book a lot easier. Extra spaces just have to be removed, which is a pain. It also means we have to spend more time scrolling through white space. That's almost like exercise. If we do not have your contact information, we can not send you a contract, no matter how good the story is.

Remember, use the formatting option of your word processing program. Extra carriage returns and/or tabs create another formatting headache.

Finally, yet most importantly, all submissions should be sent in 12 point Times New Roman. Part of this is because of the formatting issues described above. The rest of the reason, and we can't say this enough, we
HATE Courier. It makes our eyes bleed, our heads hurt, and is an automatic strike against the submission. That means the story has to be even better to make it into the book. Please avoid our ire and increase your chances of inclusion in the anthology by using the preferred font -- Times New Roman.
