Geek Confessions

Another San Diego Comic Con has come and gone, and alas, the closest I got to Hall H was via hidden shaky cam published on YouTube.1

Since I wasn’t at SDCC, I am not going to launch into a review of the amazing things that happened there.  There are plenty of blog posts and videos from people who were.  Instead, I am going to take this opportunity to come clean about some things that I, as a long standing geek, am a little embarrassed by.  In no particular order:

  • I never finished the last season of BSG.
  • I have never read any of the Disc World series.
  • I am incredibly behind in terms of comic book related films.  I did not see any of the Henry Cavil Superman movies, the last of the Chris Nolan Batman trilogy, the second stand alone Wolverine movie, Winter Soldier, Avengers 2, or Guardians of the Galaxy.
  • I couldn’t care less about the most recent Spiderman reboot.
  • I haven’t seen the second JJ Abrams Star Trek.
  • I have, however, seen all of the Resident Evil and Underworld movies.
  • I gave up on the Wheel of Time series four or five books in.
  • I never solved a Rubic’s Cube without cheating.2
  • I don’t game on-line.3
  • In fact, I often unplug my gaming systems to use the sockets for other things.
  • I avoided Lost and Heroes while they were on the air and have continued to avoid them on Netflix.

1  Yes, I know you’re excited about Harley Quinn’s appearance in the
Suicide Squad trailer.  We all are.  Still, that’s no excuse for not focusing or holding you phone vertically!

2  Read: using a screwdriver.

3  I just don’t want to deal with other people.
